Presenting the GymKraft Proficiency Awards
(known as GPA) is our in-house progression system tailored to our unique approach to gymnastics coaching and child development.

Launched in May 2021, the GPA comprises 12 levels of movements - 10 skills in each level, for a total of 120 skills - in line with the skills taught in our curriculum.

Why 12 Levels?
We believe that supporting children's mental and physical growth starts with setting incremental, achievable goals. That’s why the GPA is designed to offer frequent opportunities to celebrate “small wins,” with each level structured to be completed in just six months.

Another goal of GymKraft is to create more opportunities for children to have the experience of competitions.

The GPA is aligned with Gymnastics Australia’s Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) competition requirements.

But that’s not all — the GPA also gives coaches and parents a clear understanding of how their child can take part in the annual GymKraft competition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Background
Why did we design this GymKraft Proficiency System?

We created the GymKraft Proficiency Awards to offer a clear, structured, and achievable pathway for all our gymnasts—regardless of age or ability—to grow and reach their full potential.

The GPA helps our young athletes build confidence by setting progressive goals and celebrating every milestone. Through regular assessments and attainable rewards, gymnasts experience a sense of accomplishment, whether they’re training recreationally or preparing for competition.

How does it complement the Australian Levels Programme (ALP)?

The Australian Levels Program (ALP) outlines routines and elements for Women’s (WAG) and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), based on a modified FIG Code of Points.

Our GPA is designed to work hand-in-hand with the ALP by breaking down each ALP level into smaller, skill-based assessments. These assessments include key compulsory elements from both WAG and MAG, making the learning process more achievable and inclusive for all gymnasts.

This structure helps gymnasts set and reach incremental goals, providing consistent motivation and supporting both mental and physical development. It also gives our coaches a clear view of each child’s progress and readiness for the next stage.

In short, the GPA builds a strong foundation for mastering more complex skills in the future. You can see how each award corresponds to ALP levels in our progression chart.
Qualification
Who is eligible to take the GPA?

The GPA is open to everyone—regardless of age or experience. It's designed to support and develop the potential of all gymnasts. Our Coaches assess each gymnast's abilities and recommend the most suitable award level. This ensures every child is working towards goals that match their current skill level.

How long will it take to attain each award?

The time it takes to complete each GPA award varies from child to child, depending on their age, physical development, and individual learning pace.

Younger gymnasts (aged 3–4) may take a bit longer to progress through each level, while older or more experienced gymnasts might advance more quickly. Our coaches will monitor each child’s progress and ensure they are developing at a pace that supports both their confidence and skill growth.

Benefits
Which competitions will my child be able to qualify for through GPA?

Your child will be prepared to compete in events that follow the Australian Levels Program (ALP), which is widely recognised and used by many gymnastics clubs across Southeast Asia.

This opens up opportunities for your child to participate in both local and international competitions, giving them valuable experience and exposure beyond our gym.

Plan Ahead!
The GPA is held periodically during the year. Tentative GPA dates are indicated in our calendar. The date will be finalised a few weeks in advance.
Optional:
While participation is highly encouraged, not attending the assessment will not affect their class progression. If your child is unable to attend the scheduled date, they may join the next available round.
Step-by-Step:
Each award covers simplified skills that build up gradually — becoming more challenging as the awards move up — and are based on the level 1 to 3 skill requirements of the Australian Levels Program. (To understand how the awards align wth each level, refer to the GPA Progression Chart)
What's Next?
After attaining their award, students will typically remain in the same class, as progression depends on each child’s individual stage of development. Coaches will continue to monitor their readiness, and any promotion will be communicated directly to parents.
